  TITLE: State Director of Program Services

REPORTS TO: State Director

LOCATION: St. Louis, MO

REASON FOR OPENING: Replacement

POSITION PURPOSE:
To direct the planning, implementation and evaluation of March of Dimes program services and public affairs activities across Missouri including public and professional health education, grants, community services, advocacy and volunteer recruitment/development

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Evaluate the maternal/child health needs across the state in order to allocate resources and address priority needs.
  • Establish a strong volunteer base for program and public affairs activities including planning, implementation and evaluation.
  • Cultivate relationships and develop collaborative partnerships with maternal/child health agencies in Missouri.
  • Ensure that community programs target the greatest needs and measure changes in knowledge, behavior or birth outcomes.
  • Manage a statewide grants process that fits the strategic direction of the chapter and is evaluated on an ongoing basis.
  • Provide continuing education for perinatal health care providers on topics relevant to the March of Dimes mission.
  • Oversee the development & implementation of Prematurity Campaign activities.
  • Work with chapter staff to ensure integration of programs with fundraising and communication activities.
  • Oversee dissemination of information and education to staff and volunteers in the areas of mission, programs and public affairs.
  • Ensure that the Missouri Chapter meets/exceeds Program, Public Affairs and NICU Family Support requirements.
  • Secure funding as needed to ensure delivery of effective chapter programs, including NICU Family Support.
  • Plan and implement, with Chapter volunteers, legislative and regulatory public affairs plan annually, including coordinating public affairs activities and events.
  • Supervise the NICU Specialist working on the NICU Family Support project.
  • Manage legislative consultant.


QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
  • Master's degree in public health, public policy, public administration, social work or equivalent education and experience.
  • Knowledge of maternal and child health system and programs.
  • Five years experience in maternal and child health or related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and build teams with staff and volunteers.
  • Strategic planning, oral and written communications skills, analysis plus problem solving skills a must.
  • Extensive knowledge in program planning, evaluation, data analysis, grants review and grant writing.
  • Experience in public affairs a plus.
