TITLE: Assistant Community Director
REPORTS TO: State Director
LOCATION: Portland, ME
REASON FOR OPENING: Replacement
POSITION PURPOSE:
With volunteer support, this person is accountable for coordinating and implementing cost-effective fund-raising and communication activities; acts as a liaison between March of Dimes (MOD), its volunteers and the local community by recruiting volunteers, coordinating sponsorship and recruiting/managing teams.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Recruit, orient, train and monitor performance of volunteers to organize events and meet goals.
- Manage and provide leadership to event committees to ensure members are fully supported and accomplish tasks required for a successful event.
- Develop and maintain working relationships with community leaders and organizers to promote MOD message and build support for MOD mission.
- Prepare and maintain adequate records to evaluate cost effectiveness, profitability and public awareness of events.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- Up to three years experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- Detail oriented, adaptable, organized and able to successfully manage multiple tasks
- Team player
- Computer skills, especially Word and Excel
