  TITLE: Assistant Community Director

REPORTS TO: Executive Director

LOCATION: Tallahassee, FL

REASON FOR OPENING: Replacement

POSITION PURPOSE:
With appropriate volunteer support, this position is responsible for coordinating and implementing fundraising, directing communications efforts and supporting youth fundraising and volunteer development activities.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide staff support to MFB chair and community leaders who implement the  March for Babies event raising a minimum of $350,000 through sponsorship at 20% of overall budget, MFB corporate and family teams
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community leaders and organizations to promote March of Dimes (MOD) message, build support for MOD mission and build and maintain volunteer board involvement in MOD activities and programs.
  • Work with community media to publicize events/mission and secure local media sponsorship for events to heighten public awareness and reach fundraising goals.
  • Provide staff support to Community Director and Executive Director through management of youth fundraising, volunteer youth development, management of selected MFB “B & C” teams and MFB event logistics.
  • Provide staff support to assist the Community Director and Executive Director to execute a Fall $150,000 Signature Chef’s event.
  • Maintain appropriate volunteer data systems and event records.
  • Assist in the development of volunteer newsletters and communications for MFB.
  • Recruit and supervise public relations, marketing and/or event management interns within the office.

 



QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and education
  • Experience in fundraising or related field such as sales with successful track record of income growth.
  • Excellent management, organizational, interpersonal and communications skills
  • Computer competency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, Excel), ability to utilize internet and a willingness to learn InDesign and Photoshop, should those skills not be present
  • Ability to function in a fast paced environment and be able to deal with multiple priorities.
  • Reliable transportation.
