TITLE: Family Team Specialist
REPORTS TO: State Director of Program Services
LOCATION: Arlington, VA
REASON FOR OPENING: New Position
POSITION PURPOSE:
This is a one-year position focused on development and recruitment of new Family Teams to generate new funds for the mission. Continuation beyond 2009 will be subject to program success and availability of grant funding. Position is part time.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Raise in $200,000 new revenue by recruiting and assisting in managing new and unpaid family teams participating in the “March for Babies” fundraising event
- Manage family teams newly recruited for MFB 2009
- Manage response system to family teams that register online
- Coordinate year-round communication with family teams via e-newsletters and targeted group emails
- Identify, recruit, and train appropriate family team volunteers for chapter leadership positions (MFB committees, PSC, Revenue Development, Public Affairs, Communications)
- Coordinate day-of MFB family team tent activities for 3 key sites (Washington, D.C., Reston and Baltimore)
- Devise and implement plan for family team involvement in Prematurity Awareness Month
- Work with family teams to gather human interest stories to pitch to local media, utilize in Chapter publications and post on MD-NCAC website
- Manage family teams data collection and retention and communicate to appropriate staff members
- Serve as Family Team liaison with National and Regional offices
- Participate on national Family Team Liaison conference calls
- Assist with outreach to other teams and funding sources.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.
- Minimum two years’ experience in fundraising and grant writing or appropriate FT experience.
- Experience managing volunteers: excellent people skills.
- Computer literacy in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to travel within the chapter – car and valid driver’s license.
- Dynamic, energetic, empathic individual who enjoys working and collaborating with many different type of individuals, families, disciplines, medical personnel and organizations.
- Some flexibility of schedule required.
