TITLE: Assistant Community Director
REPORTS TO: DC Division Director
LOCATION: Washington, D.C.
REASON FOR OPENING: Replacement
POSITION PURPOSE:
This position is accountable for assisting in the coordination and implementation of several cost-effective events. This position will be responsible for assisting the Division Director in the overall logistics, fundraising, planning and implementation of the Washington, D.C. March for Babies and Signature Chefs Auction of DC. This position will act as a liaison between the March of Dimes, its volunteers, and the Washington D.C. community by recruiting corporate sponsors, team and volunteers.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Recruit, train and monitor performance of volunteers to organize the logistics committee for the Washington, D.C. March for Babies.
- Recruit and manage leadership of volunteer committees and ensure that committee members are fully supported and accomplish tasks required for financial success.
- Recruit, monitor and manage corporate teams, family teams and walkers for Washington, D.C .March for Babies.
- Assist Washington, D.C. Division Director by managing, recruiting and monitoring the silent and live auction for Signature Chefs.
- Develop and maintain working relationships with community leaders and organizations to promote March of Dimes message, build support for March of Dimes mission, and maintain volunteer involvement in March of Dimes activities and programs.
- Prepare and maintain accurate records and data to evaluate cost-effectiveness, profitability, and public awareness of events. This may include preparing income/expense budgets, compilation/analysis of event statistics, evaluation of media coverage, researching and analyzing community fundraising potential versus actual revenues, etc.
- Help secure local sponsorship for events to heighten public awareness and reach fundraising goals.
- With support from volunteers, coordinate all event logistics and event materials to ensure success of events.
- Develop and implement events to recognize, reward, and motivate successful volunteers.
- Work with program staff and volunteers to ensure that events contain program content to enhance the knowledge of the audience and general public regarding March of Dimes mission and programs.
- Other duties as assigned by manager.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent experience and education.
- Excellent written, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Confident and comfortable presenting in public.
- Organized and self-motivated.
- Strong planning and project management skills.
