TITLE: Senior Community Director
REPORTS TO: Division Executive Director
LOCATION: Chesapeake, VA
REASON FOR OPENING: Replacement
POSITION PURPOSE:
With appropriate volunteer support, this position is responsible for coordinating and implementing cost-effective fundraising and supporting communication and program activities for the Virginia Beach March for Babies. This position acts as liaison between March of Dimes, its volunteers, and the local community which it serves by recruiting volunteer participation, corporate participation, and sponsorship within the Greater Hampton Roads Division.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Recruit, orient, and train volunteers to organize a successful March for Babies event
- Responsible for a portion of the overall March for Babies budget – largest event in the chapter
- Develop and maintain working relationships with community leaders and organizations to promote March of Dimes message and build support for the March of Dimes mission
- Manage and provide leadership to volunteers to ensure that they can accomplish tasks required for a successful event
- With support from volunteers, coordinate all event logistics and event materials to ensure success of events
POSITION SCOPE:
This position works with March of Dimes Division Director to plan and execute high-profile events and activities. This position interacts with other professionals and volunteers, inside and/or outside the March of Dimes. These contacts involve motivating, negotiating with, developing, and collaborating with others.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s degree or work experience equivalent required
- Detail oriented, adaptable, organized and able to successfully manager multiple projects and tasks
- Computer skills, especially Word and Excel
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Volunteer management and development experience
- Public speaking ability and experience
