TITLE: State Director of Program Services
REPORTS TO: State Director
LOCATION: Omaha, NE
REASON FOR OPENING: Replacement
POSITION PURPOSE:
To administer and oversee all March of Dimes program services and public affairs activities in Nebraska, including: planning, implementing and evaluating activities in public and professional health education; grants, community service, staff management, interaction with the state legislature and volunteer development.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage the perinatal health needs assessment process and allocate program resources to address priority needs.
- Establish a strong volunteer base for program and public affairs activities including planning, implementation and evaluation.
- Cultivate relationships with perinatal health agencies in Nebraska.
- Develop and maintain a statewide grants process that fits the strategic direction of the chapter and is evaluated on an ongoing basis.
- Supervise the NICU Specialist working on the NICU Family Support Program.
- Develop strong professional education programs that increase MOD visibility and credibility in the health professional community.
- Ensure that community programs target greatest needs and measure outcomes.
- Oversee the implementation of the National Education Initiative (Prematurity Campaign).
- Work with chapter staff to ensure integration of programs with fundraising and communication activities.
- Oversee dissemination of information and education of staff and volunteers in the areas of mission, programs and public affairs.
- Ensure that the Nebraska Chapter continues to meet/exceed Program, Public Affairs and NICU Family Support Standards for Success.
- Secure funding as needed to ensure delivery of effective chapter programs, including NICU Family Support.
- Plan and implement, with Chapter volunteers, legislative and regulatory public affairs plan annually, including coordinating public affairs activities and events.
- Travel as needed to attend National, Regional and other meetings to fulfill job responsibilities and obtain training.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- Master's degree in public health, public policy, public administration, social work or equivalent education and experience.
- Knowledge of maternal and child health system and programs
- Four years experience in maternal and child health or related field.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and motivate staff and volunteers.
- Strategic planning, oral and written communications skills, analysis plus problem solving skills a must.
- Demonstrated experience in program planning, evaluation, data analysis, grants review and grant writing.
- Experience in public affairs a strong plus.
