  TITLE: Community Voice Recruitment Coordinator - P/T

REPORTS TO: Community Voice Project Director

LOCATION: Memphis, TN

REASON FOR OPENING: New Position

POSITION PURPOSE:
To coordinate the outreach and recruitment efforts of the March of Dimes Community Voice project in Memphis and Shelby County.  Incumbent will identify and establish strong working relationships with urban community networks in an effort to conduct intensive community outreach and training to address infant mortality in African American communities.

 



POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist in the development of a systematic and intentional plan that is creative yet culturally and ethnically acceptable with marketing strategies to promote community based Lay Health Advisor trainings. 
  • Identify and schedule community based Lay Health Advisors trainings at specific locations such as churches, organizations, community centers, etc.; serve as liaison to Outreach Specialist.
  • Schedule and conduct March of Dimes Community Voice presentations; prepare and coordinate training schedule; provide resources such as flyers, brochures, posters, etc.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with local community based businesses and agencies to serve as both training sites and/or recruitment sites; develop strong, organized community resources.
  • Work closely with CV Project Director to foster involvement of partners and develop plans of retention.
  • Assist with data collection and compilation to be used for evaluation purposes. 
  • Closely monitor, track, and maintain records of outreach efforts; conduct correspondence and schedule follow-up.
  • Assist with program tracking to identify success of program operations.
  • Maintain working relationships with MOD staff and volunteers in state, regional, and national offices regarding program implementation as needed.
  • Complete reports for state, regional and national offices.
  • Participate in MOD fundraising, media, and publicity efforts and events.

 



QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
  • A  Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Marketing, Community Health, Education, Social Work or related field with or an Associate’s Degree in the above discipline 
  • 2 – 3  years of experience required in recruitment, social marketing and/or community health; working with disadvantage population; program planning, development and implementation 
  • Previous history in recruitment, social marketing, or health and community education is strongly preferred
  • Experience as a community liaison or in working with a wide variety of collaborative partners
  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of urban based cultural issues, perinatal trends, community resources and other related strategies.
  • Strong verbal and writing skills a must
  • A dynamic, energetic, motivating individual who enjoys working, providing support to and collaborating with a diverse set of individuals, families, disciplines, and organizations.
